January 22, 2026 – Our Civic Engagement Working Group held its first meeting of the year.

November 13, 2025 – As part of our Civic Engagement Educational Series, we hosted an online training on the role of petitions in the political process. Participants learned how to collect petitions properly and engage voters in conversations. They also had an opportunity to practice these skills through online simulations.

October 9, 2025 – We held our Fall Community Meeting with special guest New York State Senator Kevin Parker, Chairman of Committee on Energy and Telecommunications. Topics discussed included our state’s energy policy and the upcoming election – including the state ballot proposals.

September 25, 2025 – Led by co-chairs David Sparber, Solana Mahabeer, and Clarke Littlejohn, our Civic Engagement Working Group meeting discussed public health, criminal justice, and sustainable fashion.

September 23, 2025 – WE ACT 4 Change co-hosted Leadership in Climate Civics with the Democratic National Committee’s Environment and Climate Crisis Council, Manhattan Young Democrats, and Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter. This panel discussion on the importance of electing candidates committed to equitably addressing the climate crisis featured Democratic National Committee Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis Chair Michelle Deatrick, Sierra Club New York State Political Chair Edward Berry, and Manhattan Young Democrats President Liz Cohen. September 11, 2025 – WE ACT 4 Change hosted its second Solid Waste Working Group, which is focused on ensuring that Northern Manhattan residents have a voice in shaping New York City’s 2026 Solid Waste Management Plan. Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board Legislative Committee Chair Danielle Dookie was our guest speaker, talking about the City’s solid waste exports. July 24, 2025 – WE ACT 4 Change’s Civic Engagement Working Group held its second meeting. Check back for information on next month’s meeting.

July 23, 2025 – WE ACT 4 Change launched its Solid Waste Working Group, which is focused on ensuring that Northern Manhattan residents have a voice in shaping New York City’s 2026 Solid Waste Management Plan. This plan will determine how they City handles waste, recycling, and composting over the next 20 years. Check back for information on next month’s meeting.

March 17, 2025 – We hosted a free online training session on Monday, March 17th, 2025 to help attendees learn about the process, roles, and responsibilities of serving on a New York City County Committee. The County Committee is the ground floor of your party and a gateway for higher office.

May 17, 2024 – WE ACT for Environmental Justice and Marcus Meets Malcolm – along with Indivisible Harlem, Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association, and NAACP Mid-Manhattan Branch – conducted a Candidates Forum for New York State Assembly District 70.
